COOPERSVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 2, 2024) – As road construction season gets underway, the issue of funding such projects continues to be discussed at various levels of government.
Last week, members of the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council’s Policy Board heard presentations about the establishment of toll roads on some of the major thoroughfares in Michigan, including the stretch of I-196 through Ottawa and Allegan counties, as well as alternatives for the current fuel tax such as charging motorists by miles driven.
The matter of toll roads is something that 89th District House Representative Luke Meerman, a third-term Republican from Coopersville, doesn’t think will fly right now.
