HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 28, 2024) – As Holland City Council members went over an Assessment of Fair Housing Report during their biweekly study session on Wednesday night, a group devoted to creating sustainable solutions to end homelessness in the community has a new partnership.
On Wednesday, officials of Lakeshore Housing Alliance announced a hosting shift from the United Way of Ottawa & Allegan Counties to the Good Samaritan Ministry’s offices off of East 8th Street east of downtown Holland. While the physical move is only about a block, the LHA believes that it will strengthen its overall continuum of care through Good Samaritan, who already is the designated central intake agency for Ottawa County’s Housing Assessment and Resourcing Agency.
This partnership, which aims to improve a coordinated response for individuals and families that face homelessness or other housing crises, addresses one of the goals of the Fair Housing Report, from retained planning and building services firm McKenna, in addressing impediments to fair and accessible housing with a comprehensive and targeted approach through collaborative efforts.
In a related note, the City of Holland’s Human Relations Commission will host a Tenant/Landlord Fair Housing Update on Thursday, April 11th, from 12 Noon to 1:15 PM at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.). An online link for registration to this free event is here.
