GRAND HAVEN, TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 7, 2024) – A 65-year-old Grand Haven woman was seriously injured after her sedan struck a semi’s trailer on US-31 south of the county seat on Thursday evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Eric Westveer, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to the divided highway north of Hayes Street shortly after 9 AM. That was where the fully-loaded truck, driven by a 43-year-old Valparaiso, Indiana man, was attempting to use the turnaround to head into the southbound lanes. As he completed the turn, his trailer was hit by the southbound sedan. The unnamed, unbuckled woman was taken to an undisclosed “local hospital” for treatment, while the trucker was not hurt.
The incident remains under investigation.
