HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 6, 2024) – It looks as if there will be a new management team in place to operate the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place at mid-year.
During Wednesday evening’s Holland City Council meeting, members of the governing panel will vote on approving a five-year Facility Management Agreement, with an optional five-year extension, with Sports Facilities Management to be the retained operator of the municipal facility. This would also include having Creative Dining Services as a subcontractor to handle food, beverage, and related hospitality services. The total cost of the package is $390,692.
Although the Holland Civic Center Place Board had recommended last summer that the city extend its initial six-year deal with VenuWorks when the Iowa-based facilities provider assumed operational control, City Manager Keith Van Beek helped persuade council members to open up the bidding process.
Three companies submitted bids for this contract, and a special panel recommended the Sports Facilities/Creative Dining offer to the Civic Center Place Board, which then unanimously approved that offer. Council members then went over the presentation by Sports Facilities/Creative Dining at last Wednesday’s work-study session.
This item is among a number of other items on the agenda for the 6 PM Holland City Council meeting in Chambers at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
