David was born 2-16-52 to Walter and Adeline Neckolaishen in Aurora, IL. After graduating High School in Baumholder Germany, David returned to Aurora, Illinois, and began working as a lineman for Illinois Bell Co. David met his wife Barbara Armstrong on a blind date (set up by his coworkers). Barbara was a switchboard operator at this time. Dave and Barb married in December 1973 and shortly after David enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country. After his service in the Air Force, he continued to advance his knowledge in computers and electrical, investing the majority of his life as an electrician for General Motors.
David enjoyed motorcycles and playing bass guitar. Upon retirement, he explored many avenues of learning and building, he discovered a love of gardening and food preservation. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Neckolaishen, their three children – Patrick (Kristy) Neckolaishen, Heather (Robert) Sandlin, and Kimberly Neckolaishen along with several grandchildren. A private celebration of life will be held by his family. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to local organizations supporting veterans or Alzheimer’s research.
