LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 2, 2024) – A Holland-based provider of masterbatch for thermoplastics for various industries is expanding its presence in the Tulip City, thanks in part to a financial boost from Lansing.
This week, the Governor’s office announced a $195,000 Micro Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund board to Uniform Color Company. The money will go towards a 25,000 square-foot expansion of its Brooks Avenue headquarters, a $12 million investment that would allow the company to add new machinery and equipment, creating 13 new jobs in the process. Uniform Color opted to expand at its home base instead of operations it has in Mexico and Pennsylvania, and is getting tax abatements from the city of Holland and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
In addition, the state Strategic Fund board awarded a similar grant of $320,000 to Profielnorm USA to build a new plant in Plainwell’s Industrial Park off of Bridge Street. The American subsidiary of a Dutch family-owned mezzanine flooring specialist is spending up to $7.5 million the project, creating as many as 32 jobs, and the grant helped the company decide upon the southeast Allegan County community instead of one in Georgia.
