WRIGHT TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 21, 2024) – The road construction season hasn’t yet begun in earnest along the Lakeshore, and already, there has been an injury collision.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Knott, a 30-year-old Coopersville was driving his SUV westbound on I-96 near 24th Avenue in the Marne area around 12 Noon on Wednesday when he encountered slow traffic ahead due to a road construction project. As he slowed his vehicle down quickly, it was rammed from behind by another SUV, driven by a 43-year-old Sparta man.
Both of the unnamed motorists were treated at the scene for bumps and bruises, while traffic on the main route from Grand Rapids to Muskegon had to be diverted off for a brief period as a result.
