HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Another sign of autumn comes to Holland on Thursday night.
Beginning at 2 AM on Friday morning, vehicles will no longer be able to park on Tulip City streets overnight without being ticketed. Five years ago, the City Council approved the lifting of the year-round overnight parking ban, enabling vehicles to spend the night on city streets between May 15th and October 15th annually.
The proposal came from Jay Peters as one of the first measures he had put forward when he became the Second Ward Councilman in 2007 as a way to accommodate homeowners who had to shuffle multiple vehicles on their property.
The overnight ban is in place for the winter to accommodate snow removal and to allow easier access for emergency vehicles on city streets.
