POLKTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 21-year-old Grand Rapids woman was injured in a single vehicle crash along I-96 west of Coopersville on Tuesday evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christopher Dill, the unnamed woman had apparently driven her automobile faster than other vehicles while heading eastbound near the 14 mile marker around 5:15 PM. She lost control on a curve and drove off into a wooded median. The vehicle then rolled over several times before coming to rest upside down near the westbound lanes, partially pinning the motorist underneath.
After rescue workers were able to extricate her, the woman was taken to an undisclosed Grand Rapids area hospital for treatment of multiple non-life threatening injuries. One westbound lane of the freeway was closed for several hours as a result.
The crash remains under investigation.

She passed me and I was driving just a few vehicles behind her when this happened. So scary to see! Glad to read she doesn’t have life threatening injuries.
