HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 9, 2024) – Holland’s first female mayor wants to stay in Lansing for two more years.
On Monday, 86th District House Republican Nancy DeBoer announced her intention to run for a second term in the Lower Chamber in the midst of uncertainty in the Michigan Republican Party and a perceived split among Ottawa County GOP members.
DeBoer is the ranking minority member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on K-12 School Aid and Education. She defeated Seth Getz in the Republican primary two years ago with 62 percent of the vote, and then defeated Democrat Larry Jackson in the General Election with 56 percent of the vote. Jackson is now the chairman of the Ottawa County Democratic Party.
A Holland City Council member for 14 years (2005-2019), she served the final four of those years as Mayor, defeating Bob Vande Vusse in 2015, but losing to current Mayor Nathan Bocks four years later.
