LAKETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 23, 2023) – The New Year will see a new leader for the Laketown Township Parks and Recreation Commission.
During this past Wednesday’s monthly meeting, the panel tabbed Brad Laninga as its new chairman, replacing Jeremy Van Hoven, who stepped down in November. It’s a quick rise to the spot for Laninga, who joined the commission this past June to fill a vacancy, but he has resided in the township for 17 years.
Although a chairman is now in place, a position on the five-person Parks and Recreation Commission is still open, with applications accepted through next Friday evening. A form is on the township’s website, and completed forms are to be mailed to Township Manager Al Meshkin.
The Township Board will decide at its January 10th meeting whether to select finalists to interview, or to choose the new commission member at that time. That new member will serve until the November 2024 election.
