ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 17, 2023) – A 32-year-old Fennville man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Allendale on Saturday night.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, the unnamed motorist was driving westbound on Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) near Northgate Avenue around 10:25 PM when he lost control of his minivan on a wet roadway. The vehicle veered left into the raised grass median and struck a tree, causing the motorist to be stuck inside.
After rescue workers were able to extricate him, the motorist was taken to Corewell Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment. One lane of the divided highway was blocked in each direction for several hours as a result of the crash, which remains under investigation.
