OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 29, 2023) – The latest episode in the daytime drama at the Fillmore Street Complex came on Tuesday evening.
Before the Ottawa County Board held its biweekly business meeting, it went into a two-hour, closed-door session with attorney David Kallman to discuss the next step in the ongoing lawsuit filed against the county by Administrative Health Officer Adeline Hambley. When the governing panel emerged, chairman Joe Moss (R-Hudsonville) made a motion concerning mediation on the matter.
Following an unanimous passage of that motion, Moss wanted a special panel of commissioners to sit in on the mediation.
That motion also passed unanimously. During a recess before the board’s business meeting resumed, Kallman told reporters that mediation was a positive step, while Hambley’s attorney, Sarah Howard, said that she is willing to work on this if the board will too.
A reported four million-dollar settlement earlier this month was apparently withdrawn by the county board, and a court hearing on whether Hambley can continue to move forward on this litigation, stemming from efforts last January to oust her from her position, is slated to resume next Monday in Muskegon County Circuit Court.
