Dorothy Marie Rithamel (Jordan), age 97 of Holland, peacefully passed away November 21, 2023 at the Resthaven Care Center.
Dorothy was born to Leo and Ethel (Quick) Hunt and was one of eight kids. She grew up in South Haven and worked at their family fruit farm. Dorothy met Archie Jordan while out dancing at the Hayloft Dance Hall and the two fell in love. They raised ten children together and were married for 54 years. She enjoyed many things like reading, baking bread, crochet, taking long walks (even walking the Mackinaw Bridge at 88), Lake Michigan, Light Houses, and boat rides. Her favorite thing however, was spending time with her family. Whether it was Thanksgiving, Christmas, or summer picnics, Dorothy loved to be with her family. They even started a tradition in Dorothy’s honor known as “Mother’s Angels,” where the ladies in the family would all spend the weekend together away, while the guys went out and played golf. A tradition that has been passed down generation to generation. Dorothy would describe herself as a “tough old bird,” having survived two cancer diagnosis, a heart attack, broken hip, and covid. She was a faithful lady, who most recently attended Central Wesleyan for over 30 years, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Archie Jordan; second husband, Leon Rithamel; first husband, Ernest Eberhart; children, Shirley Tyson, Larry Eberhart, Connie Jordan, Gene Jordan, Cathy Arens, Terry Jordan, Diane Glove; grandchildren, Mike Tyson, Bill Tyson; great-granddaughter, Ayla Tyson; siblings, Don Hunt, Lucella Wolfe, Barbara Ridley, Cecil Hunt, Charlie Hunt; along with many in-laws.
