SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 7, 2023) – A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for part of a Lakeshore community’s downtown area.
On Tuesday, the Kalamazoo Lake Sewer & Water Authority issued such a precaution for residences and business along the eastern shore of the lake in Saugatuck, as a water main at the intersection of Butler and Culver suffered a drop in pressure, and bacterial contamination may have occurred as a result. The affected area along Water Street is from Lucy to Butler streets, including the area at the southern-most tip of the district.
While authority workers work to restore pressure, and samples are taken of the water to determine when it is save for use again, those in the affected area are asked to boil the tap water first for about a minute, and after it cools, the liquid should be safe for all consumption matters. The KLSWA believes it will take up to four days before the advisory is lifted.
Anyone with any questions or seeking more information is asked to contact the agency at 269-857-2709.
