Four Hope College men’s cross country runners earned All-MIAA honors with their performances on Saturday at the league championships: senior Gabe DeYoung, junior Connor Vachon, and sophomores Carston Cole and Ian Petruska.
The top eight finishers at the MIAA Championships make the first team. The next eight finishers comprise the second team.
Petruska (Fort Collins, Colorado / Fort Collins HS) claimed first-team honors for the first time by placing sixth out of 153 runners with an 8K time of 24 minutes, 46 seconds at Three Fires Golf Club in Holland. This is Petruska’s first All-MIAA recognition.
Cole, DeYoung and Vachon all made the All-MIAA Second Team.
Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) finished ninth by clocking a run of 24:52.7. This is Cole’s first All-MIAA honor.
Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) took 10th place with a time of 25.50.6. This is the third All-MIAA distinction for the computer science and mathematics education major.
DeYoung (Saegertown, Pennsylvania / Saegerown) posted a 13th-place run of 25:10.7. This is the third All-MIAA award for the mathematics major.
