LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 26, 2023) – Two men from the Lakeshore have been tabbed to serve on state panels by Governor Whitmer.
In an announcement on Thursday, the Chief Executive reappointed Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Kempker to the Mental Health Diversion Council, and named Jefferson Beach Yacht Sales Vice President of Sales Erik Krueger to the Michigan State Waterways Commission.
Kempker will continue to represent county sheriffs on the advisory body within the state Department of Health and Human Services that helps implement a diversion action plan and provides recommendations for statutory, contractual or procedural changes to improve diversion.
Kreuger, a fourth-generation member of his family that has worked in the boating industry, will represent the marine trades industry on the panel that is responsible for acquiring, constructing and maintaining recreational harbors, channels, docking and launching facilities, along with administering commercial docks in the Straits of Mackinac.
Kempker’s reappointment to the Mental Health Diversion Council runs through the end of January, 2027, and is not subject to state Senate approval. Kreuger’s appointment to the Michigan State Waterways Commission through mid-September of 2026 is, however, subject to the approval of the legislative Upper Chamber.
