HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 27, 2023) – The Lakeshore’s first responders when a domestic situation goes out of control is getting a financial boost from the legacy of the Mary Kay cosmetics’ founder.
This week, Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence announced that it has received a $20,000 grant from the Mary Kay Ash Foundation, with no strings attached, in order to help those who have been victimized by domestic violence, as part of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Megan Hennessey is the Program Director for the agency formerly branded as Center for Women in Transition.
According to the National Network to End Domestic Violence, more than 72,000 adult and child victims receive domestic violence services across the United States in just one day, but over 11,000 requests for services are unmet due to a lack of resources. The Mary Key Ash Foundation is awarding a total of $1.2 million to 60 domestic violence shelters in this latest round of grants, having to select from over 300 organizations that had asked for consideration.
