Paul was the son of Corey and Rose Van Koevering, and the third generation to be involved in the family business, The Zeeland Record. He was the publisher of the Zeeland Record, the Sunday School Guide and the Yachtsman’s Guide to the Great Lakes.
Along with his involvement in the family business he was involved with his three sons in Boy Scout Troop 21 and the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited. For fifty-four years he and his wife were members of First Reformed Church of Zeeland. He was also a member of the Gilbert D. Karsten American Legion Post #33 color guard.
Following his retirement, he and Hazel took numerous trips on former rum runner clippers in the Caribbean, several missions trips to Quito Ecuador, worked at Cook College in Phoenix, Arizona, and with Wycliff in Tucson, Arizona.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel; sons, Kurtis Van Koevering, Kent Van Koevering, and Kraig and Jody Van Koevering; grandchildren, Ashton Van Koevering, Tyce and Kristin Van Koevering, and Reagan Van Koevering; brother in-law, Gary and Barb Peters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his brother- and-sister-in-law, Keith and Lucille Van Koevering; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Roger Beekman; and sister-in-law, Lois and Jason Boersen.
A private family service was held in Zeeland Cemetery. A time of visitation will be 4-6 pm Friday, October 20, 2023 at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland. Memorials may be given to Zeeland American Legion Post #33, or Zeeland Boy Scout Troop #21. www.yntemafh.com
