LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 12, 2023) – A Grand Valley State University Professor will remain on a statewide panel addressing the needs of those in Michigan stricken with autism.
Dr. Amy Matthews of Grand Haven was reappointed by Governor Whitmer on Wednesday to the state’s Autism Council. The Director of GVSU’s Autism Education Center is also this council’s chairwoman, and will represent state-funded initiatives for the next four years.
The Autism Council is charged with overseeing Michigan’s Autism Spectrum Disorders State Plan, which provides for comprehensive life-span supports for those stricken with autism and their families. Unlike some other gubernatorial appointments, those made to this panel are not subject to state Senate approval.
