Florence Martinie, age 95, of Zeeland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 06, 2023.
Florence was raised on the family farm in Borculo with her five siblings. She and her husband were charter members of Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA), a place where she created strong friendships and quickly grew to love. She enjoyed playing golf with her husband, and spending winters together with him in Florida after retirement. She also loved her family well and was a wonderful Grandma and Great Grandma.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Melvin; her parents: Albertus & Gertrude (Diepenhorst) Gebben; brothers: Adrian (Harriet), Henry (June), brother, Peter, whom the family lost when he was killed in action during WWII; siblings-in-law: Linda Gebben, Ted Martinie, Herk (Gerri) Martinie, and Marv Dorn.
She is survived by her children: Marsha (Wayne) Major, Bryan (Mary) Martinie; 7 grandchildren: Michael Hunter, Brad (Karen) Hunter, Sarah (Aaron) Justice, Jason Major, Eric (Jodi) Martinie, Heather Martinie, Ashley (Matt) Sjoerdsma; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Dorn; brother, Justin (Patty) Gebben; and siblings-in-law: Ruth Lynema, Betty Martinie, Preston (Marva) Martinie.
A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA), 1015 E. 32nd St., Holland. A funeral service, with Rev. Kenneth Klett officiating, will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, also at the church. Burial will be in Borculo Cemetery.
