TALLMADGE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 29, 2023) – A 33-year-old Grand Rapids woman and her three-year-old daughter were hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision involving a large semi late on Friday morning west of Standale.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Dill, the unnamed woman was westbound on Lake Michigan Drive near Sessions Drive, west of 3rd Avenue, around 11:30 AM when her vehicle slammed into the side of the turning semi that apparently had swung wide to the left in order to make a right-hand turn into a private drive. The woman was taken to an undisclosed Grand Rapids hospital in serious condition with a head injury, while her daughter, who was not properly secured in a child restraint seat, had minor injuries and was taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital for treatment. The trucker, a 28-year-old man from Clarksville, was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
