Shirley Overbeek, 77, of Zeeland, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Shirley was born in Zeeland on March 22, 1946, to Russell and Mildred (Folkert) Koopman. She graduated from Hamilton High School as their valedictorian. Shirley graduated from Davenport College and later married Del Overbeek. Del and Shirley raised their son Dan in Zeeland and were members of Faith Reformed Church. Del preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her niece Julie Genzink. Shirley loved her grandchildren deeply and enjoyed attending as many of their events as possible.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dan and Alix Overbeek, grandchildren: Tyler, Chelsea, Braden; siblings: Lloyd and Linda Koopman, Sandy and Brad Grysen, Amy and Terry Genzink; and many extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Visitation will be 4:00-6:30 pm Friday, also at Yntema Funeral Home. Interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to West Ottawa Athletics. www.yntemafh.com
