Allegan Co, MI (WHTC AM/FM) 35-year-old Christopher Gerou was held on $10,000 bond as he faces numerous felony charges related to his arrest on Monday night. Court and police documents indicate Gerou was driving erratically and was stopped near 142nd Avenue and 16th Street in Dorr Township by an Allegan County Deputy. As the arrest was taking place, Gerou is accused of striking an unnamed deputy causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.
An assisting Michigan State Police Trooper was able to complete the arrest. Officials say that Gerou looked at the stricken deputy and stated, “I hope he is dead.”.
Allegan County Prosecutor Myrene Koch had asked the court for a much higher, $100,000 bond. She has charged Christopher Gerou with assault with intent to murder; assaulting, resisting and obstructing police causing serious impairment; assault with intent to do great bodily harm; operating while intoxicated; and assaulting, resisting and obstructing a police officer, court records show. The attempted murder charge is punishable by up to life in prison. Gerou is scheduled to appear in court for a probable cause conference Sept. 21st.
