LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is refusing to help the State Board of Education block a new executive order by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
She wants to launch a Department of Lifelong Education, Achievement, and Potential or MiLEAP. Whitmer will have the authority governing early childhood education, higher education and partnerships and not the State Board which could violate the Michigan constitution.
Nessel’s spokesman said the AG’s office only represents the Board of Education as a governmental body and not legal requests from individual members of the board.
