CROCKERY TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 27, 2023) – A 26-year-old Muskegon woman was seriously injured after a single-vehicle crash near Nunica on Sunday afternoon.
No names were given by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong after he and other first responders were dispatched to the nine-mile marker of westbound I-96 around 2:20 PM. Apparently the driver of Jeep Cherokee had swerved and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over into the median. The unbuckled woman, who was a passenger, was ejected and eventually taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment, while the buckled-up driver, a 23-year-old Muskegon man, was not hurt.
A cause of why the vehicle had swerved was not immediately disclosed as the incident remains under investigation.
