GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 17, 2023) – A 36-year-old Jenison man could spend the next three decades in a federal prison.
Michael Jon Batt was sentenced on Wednesday at US District Court in Grand Rapids after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. Prosecutors claim that he created and distributed images of a three-year-old child that he abused, and was arrested after sending five of an “extensive collection” of images to an undercover police officer.
Judge Janet Neff imposed the maximum permitted sentence, which included 10 years probation, along with $34,000 in restitution and fines. Batt’s case was part of the Project Safe Childhood enforcement effort among law enforcement entities nationwide.
