ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A fury member of the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office will soon be better protected with his own set of body armor.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, K9 Knox will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s Inc.
Knox’s vest is sponsored by Robert Willens LLC of New York, NY and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Gifted by Fin, Obi & Bluew,” with delivery expected within eight to ten weeks.
Each vest is valued at $1,800 and weigh and average of 4 to 5 pounds.
Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s Incorporated has provided over 5,200 vests to K9s in all 50 states at a value of $6.9-million dollars, made possible by both private and corporate donations.
The program is open to U.S. dogs that are at least 20 months old, actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies.
