ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 4, 2023) – A neighboring community’s concern about a rise in stolen vehicles and firearms should serve as a warning to all law enforcement in the region.
On Thursday, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office announced that it has taken stolen vehicle reports “almost every day the past week” from municipalities throughout their jurisdiction, with four guns “now on the street” after being left in burglarized vehicles. One of those stolen vehicles had been recently recovered in Grand Rapids with bullet holes in it.
Allegan County Sheriff Frank Baker echoes the sentiments of his colleagues to the northeast in alerting residents to the dangers of leaving vehicles unlocked, with keys and/or weapons left inside.
