The Hope College volleyball team has earned the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 15th consecutive season and 16th time overall.
The award, initiated during the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
The Flying Dutch’s team GPA finished among the top 20 percent of NCAA Division III women’s teams.
Hope is one of 1,333 collegiate and high school teams honored this year.
Led by head coach Becky Schmidt, Hope reached the Division III quarterfinals during the 2022 season and finished with a 24-8 overall record after losing to eventual national champion Juniata University (Pa.).
The Flying Dutch defeated three Top 10-ranked teams to advance to the Elite Eight for the fourth time in program history.
Hope ranked sixth in the final AVCA Division III poll.
The Flying Dutch placed ninth in the AVCA Division III poll for the second consecutive season.
