LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 5, 2023) – The Lakeshore’s Good Samaritan Ministries is in line for half a million dollars from Lansing.
That’s the amount of a grant from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority announced last week. The non-profit, with offices in both Holland and Grand Haven, will used the money to fund safe alternatives to emergency shelter, supporting short-term rental assistance, flexible spending and more.
This two-year Shelter Diversion Pilot Program is dividing up three million dollars from the MSHDA’s Housing Community Development Fund among six “community partners,” as determined through a competitive request for proposals process. The fund itself is receiving $50 million from the Legislature.
Good Samaritan Ministries and the other five agencies selected will be part of a learning, training and technical assistance process that would regularly meet with peers and department staffers through the two-year course of this project.
