HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 21, 2023) – For the second time in 17 days, Holland Department of Public Safety Fire Operations crews and Police Services officers were dispatched to combat a blaze involving the Louis Padnos operations in downtown Holland.
On Tuesday evening, crews were dispatched around 6:20 PM to the company’s office complex off of West 8th Street on a report of a fire in a machine. According to Fire Operations Captain Chris Tinney, flames were coming from a large piece of machinery utilized for recycling metal products, and although it did extend into a small building adjacent to the machinery, crews were able to quickly bring the blaze under control, limiting damage to a small area.
There were no injuries reported by responding firefighters or Padnos employees at the scene, and the company’s offices were not affected. Although the fire was initially believed to be accidental in nature, an official determination of a cause wasn’t immediately made, nor was there any dollar estimate of the amount of damage done.
On June 3rd, fire broke out in a pile of debris at the Padnos recycling complex off of Pine Avenue. No injuries were reported in that incident.
