FENNVILLE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The police department in the Allegan County city of Fennville is closing after being in operation for the last ten years.
Mayor Dan Rastall says the police chief stepped down in January and they pursued three candidates to succeed the chief, but none of them accepted the job.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is now policing the city with a full-time deputy on site along with a school resource officer, with that officer doing patrol work when school isn’t in session.
Sheriff Frank Baker says the agreement is similar to others they have with small towns in the county.
