POLKTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 7, 2023) – A 64-year-old Coopersville man was injured in a three-vehicle pileup around 12 Midnight northwest of his hometown.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Koster, the man was driving a semi northbound on 80th Avenue when it struck a northbound tractor pulling a manure spreader just before Taft Street. The collision caused the semi to jack knife, and the tractor was pushed into the southbound lane, where it was struck by another semi.
The Coopersville man had to be extricated from his rig and was taken to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in serious condition. The tractor driver, a 32-year-old Conklin man, and the other semi driver, an 18-year-old Hudsonville man, were treated at the scene for bumps and bruises.
It took several hours before 80th Avenue was cleared as a result of the pileup, which remains under investigation.
