GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 30, 2023) – A couple from Walker was injured when the motorcycle they were on skidded out of control between Hudsonville and Jenison on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Tamminga, the unnamed couple – a 32-year-old man and his 31-year-old female passenger – were eastbound on Port Sheldon Street around 1 PM and had just crossed Chicago Drive (M-121) when they encountered what Tamminga only called “loose material” on the roadway. The machine slid on the material, went off of the roadway and crashed into a guardrail to the right side, as the roadway sharply curves just east of the junction.
Both the driver and passenger, neither of whom were helmeted, were thrown from the motorcycle. The driver was taken to a “local” hospital in stable condition, while the passenger was treated at the scene for minor bumps and bruises.
No other vehicles were involved, and no names were disclosed, as the incident remains under investigation.
