OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 12, 2023) – The search is on for a woman who burglarized several parked vehicles in Ottawa County and made off with a cache of loot and more.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, the woman would go through the parking lots where there were youth sporting events were going on in Holland and Zeeland, as well as in Georgetown Township, from this past Saturday through Tuesday. While the parents/guardians were watching the action on the field, the woman would smash windows of the vehicle and get at purses and wallets that were left inside.
Apparently this suspect has been working across state lines, as Sparks said that checks stolen from sporting events in Indiana were passed at several area Ottawa County banks using stolen identification cards, and totally over $13,000.
“The Sheriff’s Office advises the public to avoid leaving valuables inside your vehicle and to keep it locked. If valuables must be left in the vehicle, they should be stored inside the locked trunk or hidden out of sight.” – Ottawa Co. Sheriff’s Detective Capt. Jake Sparks
Anyone with any information on this matter is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa Co. Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
