FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 11, 2023) – While Holland is caught up with the excitement of the Tulip Time Festival this week, a neighboring community’s school board has a more pressing issue to deal with.
The Fennville Board of Education holds a special 6 PM meeting behind closed doors on Thursday (5 Memorial Dr.) to whittle down the list of applicants for the district’s superintendent post to between four and six finalists, and decide what to ask those aspirants when they go before the panel in public interviews on May 22nd and 23rd. Such a session that is not before the public is allowed under the state’s Open Meetings Act when it is requested and it involves personnel or legal matters.
A six-week-long period when applications were accepted expired last Friday, as the district is being assisted in its search for a new superintendent by the Michigan Leadership Institute. Fennville’s top operational spot will be open on June 30th when Jim Greydanus retires after six years.
The board is planning to hold a final interview session on June 1st before making its decision on a new schools chief.
