KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan State Police have identified a young woman they’ve been calling a “Living Jane Doe” since last Thursday, April 20.
22-year-old Takai Crute of Kalamazoo was identified by MSP three days later on Sunday, April 23.
According to Public Information Officer Lt. DuWayne Robinson, Crute is currently in good health and remains in the care of Adult Protective Services.
Authorities had asked for the public’s help in identifying Crute who was found by a hiker in the Al Sabo Land Preserve in Texas Township near Portage last Thursday.
Troopers say the woman was found around 6:00 p.m. and was transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for medical care and evaluation. At that time, both police and hospital workers had not been able to effectively communicate her.
Lt. Robinson went onto thank those who flooded the office with tips that ultimately led to positive identification of Crute, and that more information surrounding the case will be released once the investigation is completed.
