ROBINSON TWP. MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 21, 2023) – An 18-year-old Grand Haven woman was seriously injured in a three-vehicle pileup south of Grand Haven on Friday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Eric DeBoer, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to the area of 144th Avenue and Wintergreen Drive, north of Lincoln Street, shortly after 3:30 PM. That was where the unnamed woman’s sedan, which had stopped for traffic to clear in order to make a left turn, was rammed from behind by a pickup truck. The force of the collision sent the sedan into oncoming traffic, where it was hit on the side by a SUV.
The woman had to be extricated from her vehicle by rescue workers and was taken to Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital for treatment. The other two drivers involved – a 17-year-old West Olive man in the pickup and a 49-year-old resident of St. Johns, were not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
