HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 21, 2023) – As the governing panels for Holland and Zeeland prepare to set their financial agenda for the next fiscal year, a dark cloud may be coming over the horizon that could spell the end of keeping tax rates stable.
It has been 10 years since the Tulip City’s leaders approved raising property levies, as rising values have been able to bring in needed revenue for meeting rising operational and capital costs. However, Thursday’s monthly report from the National Association of Realtors that indicated existing home sales edged lower this March in both month-over-month and year-over-year levels has those such as Holland Mayor Nathan Bocks well aware that things can change.
The Holland City Council will hold a public hearing on the budget on May 3rd ahead of a scheduled vote on the Fiscal 2024 spending plan that evening. The Zeeland City Council has similar sessions planned two nights earlier.
