UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 12, 2023) – Two local micro-brewers have made news this week.
On Monday, Saugatuck Brewing Company opened a new downtown Kalamazoo brew pub and restaurant. The facility off of East Michigan Avenue in the Peninsula Building replaces a SBC eatery off of Westnedge Avenue that had closed last June in advance of this move. The new restaurant will seat up to 169 people with 13 taps and onsite brewing, and later this month, SBC will roll out a new Rainbow Rodeo IPA at all three of its eateries.
On Tuesday, Holland-based Big Lake Brewing announced a collaboration with the Tulip Time Festival for a first-time, limited-edition, Dutch-inspired beer. Spring Lager, which company officials say is brewed with sweet tangerine, will be available at Big Lake’s 7th Street Pub as well as at retailers and taverns in the West Michigan region. The new offering is tied in to Big Lake’s 10th anniversary festivities slated for July 8th.
