Michael “Mike” Van Haitsma, age 68, of Zeeland, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 30, 2023, after a well-fought battle with cancer.
Mike was a man of strong faith. He served as a Deacon and part-time custodian at his church. He worked for 48 years at Howard Miller Clock Company. Some of his hobbies and passions included woodworking, music, and camping. His grandkids will miss all the love he gave them.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents: Ivan & Alma Van Haitsma, and his parents-in-law: Simon & Joan Essenburg.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon; his children and grandchildren: Matthew & Tali Van Haitsma (Noah, Jefferson, Simon), Marcy & Alex Koch (Ellory, Harper); his siblings: Sherry Shane, Betty (Tim) Storms, Scott (Joni) Van Haitsma, Julie Van Haitsma; siblings-in-law: Randy (Roxanne) Essenburg, Nancy (Joe) Krol, Kathy (Bill) Pols, Michelle (Tim) Nienhuis; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
A time of visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. A funeral service, with Rev. Cameron Beidler officiating, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Vriesland Reformed Church, 6839 Byron Road, Zeeland. Burial will take place in North Holland Cemetery.
