
Ana Tucker finished as national runner-up in the 1-mile run at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, March 11, 2023. About 1 hour and 45 minutes later, the exercise science major ran again and placed fourth in the 3,000 meters. Both runs — a converted 4 minutes, 49.87 seconds in the 1-mile and a converted 9:38.99 in the 3,000 meters — were school records.
Hope College’s Ana Tucker has been named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III Women’s Athlete of the Week for the fifth time in her career.
The senior distance runner from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS) earned a national honor after clocking Division III’s fastest time in the 10,000 meters last week at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University.
Tucker recorded a school-record run of 34 minutes, 24.97 seconds that cracked the divisional all-time Top 20.
Tucker’s time is 2 minutes and 17 seconds faster than the women’s field in Division III.
This is the first time in program history has been selected as USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season.
Tucker previously was a USTFCCCA weekly recipient once during the 2023 indoor season and three times during the 2021 indoor season.
