UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – Salvador Perez homered and drove in three runs, while Brady Singer and three relievers teamed on a two-hit, 12-strikeout shutout, as the visiting Kansas City Royals blanked the Tigers last night, 4-0. Detroit hosts Cleveland to open a four-game series at Comerica Park this evening, with coverage from Dan Dickerson and Jim Price beginning at 6:45 PM on 99 7 and 1450 WHTC.
The Indians come to the Motor City off of a 3-2, 10-inning loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field last night. Javier Baez’ single plated the winning run in the extra frame for Chicago, who starts a weekend series against visiting Minnesota tomorrow evening.
Before heading to the North Side, the Twins still have a game to play on the South Side against the White Sox this evening, after beating the Pale Hose last night at Guaranteed Rate Field, 5-1, thanks to homers by Byron Buxton, Eddie Rosario and Miguel Sano, and a combined two-hitter, with 10 strikeouts, by four Minnesota pitchers.
