Three Hope College basketball student-athletes have been selected to D3hoops.com all-region teams.
In women’s basketball, senior forward Savannah Feenstra is one of five first-team honorees in Region 7.
Senior forward Claire Baguley made the second team.
In men’s basketball, senior forward Evan Thomas is one of five second-team honorees.
It’s the 22nd season D3hoops.com has named All-Region teams.
There were 798 players nominated nationwide by sports information directors from NCAA Division III schools. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.
Division III basketball is organized into 10 regions. A region with 40 teams or more has three All-Region teams honored, while a region with fewer than 40 teams has a first and second team. This reorganization results in approximately 10 additional players being recognized when compared to previous full seasons.
Feenstra (Osceola, Indiana / NorthWood HS) led the MIAA regular-season co-champion and MIAA Tournament champion Flying Dutch in scoring (13.4) and rebounding (6.9) this season.
The nursing major set career-highs in both categories for Hope, which finished with a 26-3 record after reaching the second round of the Division III Tournament. Feenstra was an All-MIAA First Team honoree.
Baguley (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) shot a career-best 62.7% from the field and 54.7% from 3-point range this season
The environmental science major averaged a career-high 12.4 points per game this season and was an All-MIAA First Team selection.
Thomas (Okemos, Michigan / Okemos) battled through two injuries to help the Flying Dutchmen reach the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament and win the MIAA Tournament. Thomas led Hope in scoring at 15.7 points per game over 20 games.
A biology major, Thomas earned All-MIAA First Team honors for the second consecutive season as a senior. He also was named the MIAA“s Most Valuable Player as a junior.
