PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan State Police (MSP) Paw Paw post is getting set to bring attention Sexual Assault Awareness month in April with it’s “Purses with Purpose” campaign.
For the month of April, MSP officers plan to work with community law enforcement partners to collect new purses and toiletry items for its annual campaign.
With April being Sexual Assault Awareness month, MSP officials are looking to support survivors of abuse, neglect, and violence. They say the ‘Purses with a Purpose’ campaign seeks to collect items to donate to various women’s shelters in Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Branch, and St. Joseph Counties.
Through this event, they hope to generate donations of new or gently used purses, as well as hygiene and personal care items to include but not limited to toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, soap, lotions, brushes/combs, shampoo, conditioner, hair styling products, etc.
New socks in various lengths, sizes, and colors will also be welcomed.
Those wanting to donate to the campaign can drop off items at any of the following locations:
1. Hartford High School: 121 School Street, Hartford, MI 49057
2. Paw Paw High School: 30609 East Red Arrow Highway, Paw Paw, MI 49079
3. Lakeview Middle School: 300 28th Street South, Battle Creek, MI 49015
4. Journey Family Church: 514 West Van Buren Street, Gobles, MI 49055
(Drop off times for Journey Family Church are Sundays from 9 am to 12 pm and Tuesdays from 6 to 8pm)
