(SCHOOLCRAFT, MI) — A Michigan State Police report obtained by the Kalamazoo Gazette and MLive through a Freedom of Information Act request stated St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite was allegedly going between 96 and 99-miles-an-hour when he slammed into the back of another vehicle going 55 mph on southbound U.S. 131 during the early morning hours of February 26.
Lillywhite was alleged to being drunk at the time of the crash.
He was also accused of not wearing a seat belt and not having his headlights on. The crash caused both vehicles to roll over.
No information has been released by St. Joseph County officials on Lillywhite’s job status since the crash near Schoolcraft.
The report which was posted on line by MLive on Tuesday went on to say Lillywhite’s blood was drawn at Bronson Methodist Hospital after he refused to take a breathalyzer on the scene.
