ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 27, 2023) – Three persons were injured from a two-vehicle collision in Allendale before dawn on Monday.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Dill, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) and 68th Avenue at 5:30 AM. That was where a northbound pickup truck, driven by a 29-year-old Cedar Spring man, had stopped for a flashing red light. He then attempted to cross the intersection, but drove instead into an eastbound SUV, causing that vehicle to roll over several times before landing on its side in the eastbound lanes.
A 53-year-old man driving the SUV, along with a 54-year-old woman passenger, both from Grand Haven, had to be extricated by rescue workers, and all three motorists were taken to undisclosed Grand Rapids-area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The intersection was closed for over an hour as a result of the crash, which remains under investigation.
