Laura graduated from Holland Christian Schools in 2002 and was a life-long member of Graafschap CRC.
Laura had deep love and patience for the elderly and spent her life working with and caring for them. At the time of her death, she was employed at Resthaven Maplewood, loving and caring for those “grandpas and grandmas.”
Laura was a Fillmore Township Deputy Clerk, was involved in many election cycles, was caretaker of East Holland Cemetery with her father, and was a member of the Holland American Legion Band.
Laura loved to bake, cook, crochet, make quilts, and sew. She blessed many with her creations. She was an active member of Graafschap Christian Reformed Church where she and her mother made many meals for Wednesday Night Fellowship and tolled the bell for several funerals. She also enjoyed kayaking, eating Dole Whip at Dairy Daz, and Bev’s Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Laura is survived by her parents Wayne & Elaine Mokma of Graafschap, sister Kathryn also of Graafschap, sister Denise of Grand Rapids, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends, and her black lab Rylee Mae.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Julia Mokma, Gordon and Florence Haverdink, Uncle, Rev. James Cooper, Aunt, Donna Mokma, and Cousin Chris Mokma.
Laura’s family would like to thank the ICU/TU staff at Holland Hospital for the exemplary love and care that was shown to Laura and her family during the last week of her life.
