HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 29, 2022) – A 51-year-old Kalamazoo man spent the night in the Ottawa County Jail, awaiting an arraignment on charges stemming from a Wednesday evening robbery of a store on Holland’s North Side that led to a police chase.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Keith Biros, deputies were dispatched to Blaine’s Farm and Fleet, off of US-31 and Quincy Street around 7:20 PM, on a report of a man who had fled from the store with a cart full of unpaid merchandise, including some high-priced tools, and drove off in a red and black pick up truck. That vehicle was spotted about a mile away and a chase began.
That pursuit ended in the area of 168th Avenue and Lakeshore Drive when the unnamed suspect drove the pickup into a snow bank, attempted to flee on foot, and was captured without further incident a short distance away. He was not hurt in the pursuit, and the stolen merchandise was recovered and returned.
The case remains under investigation.
